Wilkinson Library, Telluride, Colorado
The site of the former historic county jail, dating from the 1880s, was chosen for the Telluride Town Library. The stone jail structure was incorporated as a childrens reading area, while the main library building incorporates traditional mountain, mining town building materials within a more modern motif design.
Open and airy spaces are created thru the use of ample glazing areas and tall interior ceilings. Many windows take advantage of the panoramic mountaintop vistas and delighting opportunities.
